DAVIS HOME REVIEW 11/2019

“I have been sober multiple years and began re-exploring other 12 steps programs. With recent past roommate incompatibilities, a sudden job location change, minor injuries, other health scares and concerns, combined with distancing myself from my own program and my Higher Power, I knew something needed to change! During this period I was deciding to buy a place of my own and had taken many steps but felt I hadn’t had the emotional sobriety and solid enough foundation “yet”.

Perplexed and confused I decided to PAUSE and pray. I knew I wasn’t sick enough for treatment and a bit not ready to live alone again. And didn’t really like the idea of living with “normies” (persons not in addiction recovery) which had been my previous experience….so I decided to re-research sober living homes to which I’m very familiar with and had some mixed but successful results with in the past. I came upon Monarch Homes seeking it for someone else and browsed through the site a couple of years ago not knowing I myself would wind up moving here myself!

My experience here is wonderful. Answer to prayer. The best pause I could ever take for myself. Great location (for me) and neighborhood, minutes from work, my therapist, hospitals, meetings, churches, restaurants, schools, bike trails. The house is immaculate, ample, many amenities included. I have easy going roommates and we all get along which is a plus. There is no turnover visible which is good but really somewhat out of supportive-homes control as the disease is a live entity and recovery is solely up to the individual and the house just lays a foundation and a springboard to which I am using. And I hope you can use it too!

Overall just a safe place to THINK and come home to without worrying about if anybody is using or “if I’m going to use today” type of thinking. For me it creates the barrier needed when struggling.

Thank you Founders, House Managers, all staff who keep the house(s) afloat!”
